Great Job Wyatt! 2nd place at the Faulkton Invite, Middle School Division!
We are celebrating South African Heritage! K-5 art students are diving into the colorful world of contemporary artist Nelson Makamo! Known for his expressive portraits of children, Makamo's work symbolizes Africa's hope and future.
Students are emulating his mixed-media style using vibrant oil pastels and bold tempera paint. Check out some of their Makamo-inspired pieces on Mrs. Tassler's website: https://sites.google.com/view/mrstassler/nelson-makamo-k-6. Stay tuned—there are more pieces to come!
Congratulations to Tomi, Cheyenne, Paige, and Hallie on being selected by staff based on their essays to go to Washington, DC in November to participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. These students will be chaperoned by Mr. Dekker to the nation's capital and the wreath laying ceremony. We are looking for fundraising opportunities or donations to help offset travel costs for our students to participate in this great event. 5th graders had the chance to observe the reactions of worms in different environments. Dry, wet, dark, and with light. They also were able to design their own experiments with the worms.
